[oman-l] The Old List

I should apologize to all for any lack of information regarding the old 
Oman list (oman@haynese.winthrop.edu).
	Let me offer a short version of the tale.
	As many may remember, this was a troubled list. Last fall, it became
increasingly obvious that part of the problem was a dying desktop computer
(from which I was forced to run the list - inappropriate technology?).
Despite warnings and pleas and begging to my dean, nothing was done. (Deans
are the same, globally?) Finally the machine died (hard drive) in November.
Only within the last few weeks have I been able to get a replacement
mechine and pressures of the ongoing semester have made the rebuilding of
the servers slow going. (Universities, too, are the same globally?). With
this list, I'm not sure the Oman list hasn't found a better and more reliable
home than it had on my desktop, but I plan to redo the other "Gulf" lists
(Bahrain, Qatar, and UAE in particular).
	Sorry to have bene out of touch, but I have been "disconnected"!
