Dear list members,

Some days ago serveral unsollicited commercial e-mails (UCE)
hit this list, and now we are the victims of a chain letter.
Abdulla Baabood is right in expressing his serious doubts
whether such a chain letter is actually a service or a disservice
to Islam - as far as the maillist is concerned, it is certainly a
disservice to the list.

Starting next weekend, postings to this list will be limited to
subscribed members only to prevent further UCE on the list.
Postings from non-subscribers as well as from list members
posting from e-mail accounts other than the one which is
subscribed to the list will go to the list manager for screening -
re-posting to the list of such messages will be at my discretion.

This will not, of course, prevent inappropriate postings from
list members themselves. I therefore kindly ask all list members
to post only messages which are related to Oman and are likely to
interest a fair number of list members.

I also wish to thank all those who are contributing to this list.
Any comments, BTW, on Rashid al-Yahyai's very interesting
remarks on Islamic family law, traditions, attitudes and social
change in Oman?
