You a very lucky lady Eileen.

Where in Muscat will you live?

Billyboy has given you plenty of info already. As you know, the week-end in
Oman is Thursday-Friday. During the winter season there are road races for
slow and fast joggers on Friday mornings. The running group also have social
run once a week starting from somebodies house ending with tea and biscuits.

Once a week, pretty much the same group plus a couple of the Omani National
team in cycling are having a training biathlon near the American Embassy.
Doesn't matter if you are fast or slow. Three four ladies use to
participate.

Every Monday (I think) there's a cross country group running in the
University area.

The Hash House Harriers, a world wide group of people using beer as an
excuse for physical excersize or using Physical excersize as an excuse for a
couple of pints, are running on Saturdays. There are two hashing groups in
Muscat, the bad and the good. The bad group, Jabal (mountain) Hash is using
faul language and lots of beers, but they have great runs. Muscat hash is
more a Family hash, moderate in everything. Cheaper too as you bring your
own BBQ. The Jabal hash charges you15-20 $ for the catered food and
bevarages. Careful, hashing usually becomes a habit.

About every second Friday morning the Omani national Team in cycling are
going out for a long ride together with us amatoer cyclists. You'll be
surprised how easy it is to tag along in their wind, hardly working at all.
A couple of ladies are also going along.

Hope that will suit you for a start. I will privately send a couple of
contact numbers to you.

Winter is of course the best season for sports, but once you get used to the
climate (a month or so) you won't have any problems to do physical excersize
when sun is standing low.

Tommy
