No, unfortunately the students have no access to the SQU Internet. It's just
a few selected staff in the University that have a limited access to e-mail.
The hospital staff has no access.
The students do not have telefon connection in their rooms, so they cannot
either have their private e-mail accounts, which is unfortunate as Oman
Internet is cheap and a lot faster and reliable than my Swiss Internet.
This is a weakness indeed in their curriculum as students in a modern
University today is dependant on information via Internet. They have however
one of the best libraries in the Middle East, but I'm not sure that's enough
to keep up with their collegues in Universities with I-net access.
Furthermore, many of the students are coming from the rural area where
access is very difficult.
