Yeah, it's quite nice. Low rise buildings, spacious. Two super markets,
Family Bookshop, travel agent, pharmacy, medical clinic, photo shop, Body
Shop, computer store, toy store, and many more smaller shops with all kind
of offers. Also three liquer stores. Several restaurants, ranging from a
gourmet french and a terrific mexican (often live music, great fun and
value!) to more humble but worthy fast food outlets. Close to the shopping
center (1/2 mile) there's a great restaurant Allaudin, a must for arab,
indian and chinese food, very tasty.
Apart from Medinat Qaboos another good place just down the highway towards
Muscat is in Qurum. Very big area with several separate shopping complexes,
too much to mention here but you won't go there in vain, there's absolute
everything you need (and a lot more!). One good store is a second hand book
shop where you can trade in your books and buy new ones, very large
selection of books in english.
Hope you have a pleasant stay there, are you going for a longer stay
(working)?
Brian Andersen, now Denmark, before that seven years in Oman (SQU).
Btw. If i may suggest one thing that you MUST do while there: Go diving,
it's really superb.
