Oman delists broker

Muscat Securities Market yesterday delisted Oman Securities Portfolio because
the company had lost more than 75 per cent of its capital. The MSM is
currently at a four-year low, and traders expect the market to go lower
before it recovers.
Oman bails out MSM
November 14th, 2000
The Oman Government is to invest 50m rials in the Muscat Securities Market to
restore liquidity and win back big investors. The market has fallen 29 per
cent this year, despite a huge hike in oil revenues. Firms are being provided
with incentives to merge, and smaller investors are being bailed out.
MSM gains 7 per cent

The Oman Government's dramatic USD130m planned investment in the Muscat
Securities Market helped push the market seven per cent higher to 191.3
yesterday. On Monday trading on the MSM was suspended while investors
absorbed the news.
Oman Aviation dives
November 15th, 2000
Oman Aviation Services posted a loss of USD4m in the first nine months of
2000, compared with a profit of USD4m in the same period of 1999. The company
blamed higher oil prices and increased competition.
