ALAWI IN WASHINGTON VISIT
[GulfWire] Foreign Minister Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah met with U.S.
officials including Vice President Cheney and Secretary of State Powell in
Washington according to the Oman News Agency on June 24.   They
discussed bilateral issues and matters of common interest.

OMAN JUDICIARY FULLY INDEPENDENT, SAYS MINISTER
Addressing a forum designed to highlight the features of the new Judicial
Authority Law, Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Mattar Al Azizi, Minister of Justice,
said the new legislation, which guarantees justice to all citizens, derives
its strength from the Basic Law, a historic document meant to bring about
qualitative transformation in all spheres of life in search of a modern
state based on the rule of law, thus ensuring security for the citizen and

A BOOM IN SEASIDE RESORTS
Oman is set to develop several family-oriented resorts according to the
Oman News Agency.  ONA's story noted Maqbool bin Ali Sultan,
Minister of Commerce and Industry said U.S.-based Parsons Corporation
along with other companies operating in the sector completed a study
defining
five potential geographical areas for tourism development and proposed
the most important viable projects that could be implemented there.
