At the risk of beating my own drum, I have written a rather full account of
reign of Sultan Sa`id b. Taymur in my _Oman in the Twentieth Century_
(London: Croom Helm; New York: Barnes & Noble, 1978), and a short
biography in Bernard Reich, ed., _Political Leaders of the Contemporary
Middle East and North Africa: A Biographical Dictionary_ (New York:
Greenwood Press, 1989), pp. 475-479.

Sultan Sa`id did indeed reside at the Dorchester Hotel in Park Lane, where
he died in his bed of his third heart attack in October 1972. He is not
actually buried in Woking but at the nearby Brookwood cemetery, in the newer
part of the Islamic section behind the Commonwealth war graves.

Can anyone recommend a good book on life in Oman under Sultan Said bin
Taimur.

Secondly does anyone know where he lived in England from 1970-72 and where
he is buried.

I am writing a book on Oman and would be very interested to fill in some
gaps.

Many thanks

You could try "Unknown Oman" by Wendell Phillips or "Minister in Oman" by
Neil Innes or "Sultan in Oman" by James Morris.

Sultan Sa'id is buried at the mosque in Woking, England.
