[Oman-L] Women in Oman

Although I fully agree to what Valerie says about the
status of Omani women and the good life enjoyed by
expat women in Oman, I must correct the rosy picture
with regard to the employment situation for expatriate
women.

First of all, unemployment in general and lack of empoyment
possibilities for women is a problem even for Omani women,
and I guess Moez's wife does not have Omani nationality.
Like like the European Union and the US, Oman is very
restrictive with regard to work permits for non-nationals.
Some sectors are not open to non-Omanis at all, and
Oman's Omanization policy makes employment of expats
difficult in other sectors.

The following mailing list can be helpful in finding
job opportunities for European expatriates

And of course, the French embassy will be willing to
help.

Best regards,
Joachim Duester
