[Oman-L] Oman monetary history

I am building a database for the revenues and expenditures for Muscat and 
Oman  1926-1970 and am finding problems which you may be able to help me 
with

The data end in 1948 when the Sultan seems to have decided not to publish 
accounts anymore.Does any body know why?

I am trying to find definitions and explanations for various items of 
revenue and expenditure which if anyone can help I would be very grateful

My queries are the following

REVENUES

Zakat-Genreral -this seems to be a straight tax on agricultural exports from 
the interior-nothing to do with Islam

Zakat -Shumailiya ?

Quarantine fees ? were there diseases?

Passport fees -simply a tax on passports ?

Brokerage tax ?

Weighing charges- were these different from customs duties

Bait el Mal ??

Wilayat of Soahar ?

Interest and Commissions ?

Rent of Gwadur and Shinas aerodromes ?

EXPENDITURES

Diwan el Sultan - Sulltan Qaboos ?

Wilayat of Sohar

Ceremonies and Ids ?

Repayment of Government Loan to India--this began in 1918 but when did it 
end ?

Askaris-personal bodyguards to the Sultan I believe but  when did they begin 
and end ?
